Other number ones for the week ending 8/25-8/31/08

Tropic Thunder Movie Poster

The number one movie over the weekend of 8/22-8/24/08 was the all-star action comedy Tropic Thunder for a second weekend atop the box office chart with $16,272,195, bringing its overall total to $65,839,915 (I didn’t report it last week because I was attending a funeral.)  I finally checked out the movie myself…and it was hilarious!  Warning…the movie lives up to its controversy by being extremely offensive to some…and un-PC to others.  Since I’m not easily offended, I loved it. The #1 TV program, according to the Nielsen Ratings for the week of 8/4/08-8/10/08, was NBC’s Tuesday coverage of the Summer Olympics in

Beijing.  In fact, the ratings for positions #2 through #8 are Olympics-related stuff as well.  The first non-rerun show that shows up is CBS’s Flashpoint.”  I personally like the show, but this Canadian import hostage negotiation show reminds me of FOX’s cancelled Standoff from a season or two ago.  Either way…it’s nice to see Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) again.

The #1 Fiction book according to the New York Times Bestseller Lists is Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown, and the #1 Non-Fiction book this week is still The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality by Jerome R. Corsi for a third week.
