It’s stuck in your head, isn’t it?

So by now you’ve heard “Live Your Life” enough times to get it stuck in your head, right?  Perhaps you’ve even made an attempt to yodel that entertaining sample heard in the intro.  But where did that sample come from?  The answer reveals a true and modern example of the influence of pop culture on pop culture (if that makes any sense.)

Maybe this will refresh your memory:

Yes, indeed …. it’s the viral video of the fat kid singing the disturbingly catchy “Numa Numa” song.  But just where did that song come from?

The song was originally recorded by a Moldovian pop band called Ozone.  They put out a somewhat creative video for their original version however I doubt it ever gained the notoriety that the Gary Brolsma (the fat kid) video did.  The interesting thing is that I would venture a guess that T.I. used the sample based on the fat kid’s video moreso than the Ozone song.  Furthermore, Rihanna’s vocal melodies are based on the sample, so it’s safe to say that the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 is the result of the influence of a viral video of a fat kid lip syncing to a somewhat cheezy foriegn pop song.  Think about that for a minute… this is how the world is changing before our eyes.  Oh, and for your viewing enjoyment - here’s the original song video from Ozone.  Enjoy!
