The #1 movie over the past weekend (9/6-9/7) was the Pang Brothers’ English remake of their first movie Bangkok Dangerous starring Nicholas Cage. It came in with $7,783,266 in its debut weekend…which is the lowest box office gross for a #1 movie in five years (when the David Spade movie Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star was the #1 movie with $6.7 million.) The movie specialized in the two types of movies that Cage does best: action movies and movies where he is depressed. I’m actually a big fan of the mopey one, but this movie was just so-so to me. I’m getting sick of Asian remakes anyway…so let’s stop while we’re far behind anyway…okay? (more…)
