So by now you’ve heard “Live Your Life” enough times to get it stuck in your head, right? Perhaps you’ve even made an attempt to yodel that entertaining sample heard in the intro. But where did that sample come from? The answer reveals a true and modern example of the influence of pop culture on pop culture (if that makes any sense.)
Maybe this will refresh your memory:
Yes, indeed …. it’s the viral video of the fat kid singing the disturbingly catchy “Numa Numa” song. But just where did that song come from?

We have come to the end of our exploration of the 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100. The beginning of the last decade starts with two songs that never went to #1, but ended up winning the Year-End #1 chart of their years. It ends with a solo #1 from a singer of one of the most successful girl groups of the new millennium. Unlike the ‘90s, the 2000’s rocked a little more. It’s now time to delve into the Year-End #1’s from 2000 to 2007 (my prediction…in case you were curious…is that the #1 tune of 2008 will go to “Low” by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain, which spent 10 weeks at #1 earlier this year.) Hey…if Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, country singers Marty Stuart and Alan Jackson, Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon, and Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx can all turn 50…why can’t the Hot 100? So Pink’s rockin’ break-up anthem hit’s #1 and the official video reveals a bit about her sense of humor. It would seem that the song eludes to how she hates her ex and she’s having more fun without him. The video features amusing clips of Pink’s “rock moves” that made me better understand what she’s getting at with her lyrics. In a surprising move that will leave fans guessing, her estranged husband Carey Hart makes an appearance with Pink in the video and the two look like they don’t hate each other at all… as a matter of fact, they look like they’re getting along just fine!
Watch the video here and let us know what you think!

Katy Perry’s reign has finally come to an end. The number one slot is now in Rihanna’s hot little hands with her newest radio sensation Disturbia. It’s lyrics may not be as fun, tongue-in-check and scandalous as Perry’s, but the beat is undeniable. Within the first few seconds you find your toes tapping to this disturbingly catchy dance song. As much as I found myself tiring of Miss Perry’s female on female antics, I also find myself longing for the song that can arguably be dubbed as the “summer song of 2008.” Are we really ready for a new #1?

Hello everyone!
I just returned from a week of vacation … I mean a week of intensive research for allnumberoneradio.com.
I visited our neighbors to the south in Mexico, where I discovered that they are big fans of the Billboard Hot 100, or at least it sounded that way in the bars and restaurants where I was enjoying many cold cervezas…. I mean visiting with the locals and spreading the word about our station. It seemed that sprinkled amongst the occasional recent or current hits, they enjoy Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey in the establishments that cater to the tourists and hard-working radio researchers such as myself. Of course I can’t blame them for their love of these two American diva icons, but my love for them may be the result of more than just a respect for their vocal talents.
